Crieff, Perthshire

The small market town of Crieff is an excellent base for touring and sight-seeing in central Scotland. With a population of  approximately 7,000, the town has many amenities yet still retains its individual character. In addition to a small supermarket, the town has a variety of family-run shops and businesses, including delicatessens, galleries, craft/hobby shops, gift shops and woollen mill shops. The Crieff area offers a variety of visitor attractions, activities and pursuits including :

 

  • Crieff's annual walking festival 'The Drovers' Tryst' will be held from 10th - 17th October 2015. See www.droverstryst.co.uk
  • The "Hairy Coo" cross country mountain bike race was first staged during the 2007 Drovers' Tryst festival, and has now become an annual event attracting riders from all over the country. The 2015 "Hairy Coo" date is yet to be confirmed. See www.comriecroftbikes.co.uk/don-t-miss-it/hairy-coo/hairy-coo-bike-races/. This will be updated to provide information on the 2015 event in due course.
  • The annual Crieff Highland Games will be held on Sunday 16th August 2015.

There are many local opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast whether your interest is photography, strolling, cycling (on or off-road), fishing, rock-climbing or hillwalking (Local Munros include Ben Chonzie, Ben Vorlich and Stuc a'Chroin).
